We celebrated Clint's Birthday a little early this year. On his actual birthday I was going to be returning from Young Women's Camp and as soon as I got home Darryl would be leaving for a business trip. I don't think Clint was sad that he got to have fun early. :) He went back and forth a few times on what he wanted to do for his birthday this year; A friend party or go somewhere "big" with the family. He finally settled on going to Chuck-E-Cheese. Thankfully he also choose to eat at Subway instead of Chuckies. :) We were happy to obliged. The whole family had a great time at Chuck-E's. Clint ran around from game to game with his cup of tokens and seemed so grown up. It's amazing how it happens and you are oblivious to it. Then one day it just hits you and it feels like a switch was flipped and they're grew up in an instant. He wanted nothing more than a disc Nerf gun. It was so fun to see him open it. I don't think he thought we'd really get it for him. We each gave him a gift so he wouldn't feel gypped from not having a ton of gifts from friends. Cole gave him a "make your own stink bomb kit" that turned out to be pretty pathetic-- nothing like the box picture led you to think it would be. Kade gave him a HUGE sticky hand. I just bought a game for him on the ipod that he really wanted. Grandma and Grandpa Bosshardt gave him magic tricks that he loved. He wanted a Wild Krattz birthday cake again . . . Here was the actual order. "A creature power disc cake that is a spider creature disc. With strawberry cake. Chocolate icing. And lots of colors all over." [Side note: Every time he colors a picture he uses lots of colors on one item. For example an apple would be red, and green, purple, blue, yellow, orange, pink, black, etc. So it was only fitting for him to want his cake that way too.] I told him chocolate icing is only brown or black so I couldn't do color all over. I spent a lot of time trying to think of something I could do with a lot of color and came up with fruit roll ups! I attached them to the icing on the sides and voila! Lots of color! Clint was very happy. As always no one ate much of the cake so it got trashed like it always does. We're not big cake eaters here but they love to have me create them. And I don't mind because it's kind of fun and like Boo says in Scripture Scouts, "I know what a birthday is! . . . It's CAKE!"
Aunt Jackie also joined us at Subway and Chuck E's. Then she followed us back to Heber to spend the weekend celebrating with us. That was a special treat for Clint too. The boys just love their Aunts and Uncle. It's a natural intense connection that they were born with. So a few things about Clint:
- He LOVES electronics: computer games, ipod games, xbox, and tv shows. He would be content in front of a screen 24/7.
- He picked up reading all by himself. We didn't work on it he somehow just knew how to read well.
- He's a fairly "go with the flow" kind of kid-- unless it's something he's very opinionated about and then the tears are pretty quick to flow if he feels unheard.
- He's a happy helper.
- He dreams up plans all the time. Many don't ever come to fruition but he is a great planner. For example he wanted to have a "lemonade stand." He immediately wanted to make the sign for it even though we wouldn't be doing the stand for weeks. Nothing deters him from the initial planning. He doesn't seem to care if they all play out or not. He had all the plans of how much to charge, how much money they needed for change, other supplies they might need like water.
- Kade is his best buddy. When Kade is gone Clint often says, "It's no fun here without Kade."
- We try to get him to be himself because when you ask him what he would choose, say a flavor of ice cream or something, he'll say, "What did Kade pick?" He just worships his brother.
- He is a great brother to Cole. He talks to him so sweetly and always looks out for him by getting him things he'll know he would love.
- He sleeps on the bottom bunk bed with his blanket rolled down so he can quickly unroll it to cover him when he gets cold and then he can, "make his bed in a jiffy too!" :)
- He goes through phases of Pokemon, Bakugan, Super Heroes, Xbox, riding his scooter, and Beyblades.
- His favorite food would be anything sweet. He loves candy but has this obsession about brushing his teeth after he eats it so many times he won't want the candy because he doesn't want his teeth to rot. Strange the things they pick up.
- He's a sweetheart and I'm so glad he makes me laugh daily with his quirky moves, words, smiles, or expressions.
- He's about 42' and weighs about 36 lbs.
Cole looked so cute playing the gun arcade game. The gun was bigger than him. ;) He loved the car where he sat next to a plastic Chuck-E and then it took his picture. He did it over and over. |
