YW Camp!

I was so happy when I was called to be part of the Young Women Stake Camp committee.  They wanted me to be the craft specialist-- okay!  Whatever it takes to get a ticket to camp. :)  I love YW camp.  I always have.  There are so many special moments and it's such a different setting to interact with one another in.  We can really focus on ourselves, and each other instead of all the other distractions the world brings.  So I was off to planning.  There were so many people who sent me ideas, which I loved.  I really wanted a craft that was pretty easy to do but did involve some creativity.  Plus I didn't want a craft that would require endless hours of preparations prior to going to camp.  But the most important thing was that it was a craft that the girls would/could keep and hang at college or in their homes some day.  Well after hours of searching I stubled on a black and white canvas picture of a baby.  I then had an idea to do the same thing with a temple photo.  The more I looked into how to create the project the more I knew this was it-- the project I'd been searching for.  So what it entailed was printing a photo on tissue paper that I taped to cardstock.  Then we modge podged a stretched canvas and placed the tissue paper on.  Then sprayed it with a finishing spray, followed by some ribbon and a jewel for embellishment.  Viola'!  The girls loved them and I was so proud of them.  I stressed and stressed about the amount of supplies, and if the girls wouldn't be able to make them work.  Thankfully they turned out beautiful and we had enough supplies!  I did stay and help with all the other activities for Mon-Wed but left Thur morning.  I so enjoyed the women I worked with.  They all have such neat spirits about them.  Brenda Wilcox was the director and Jaynee Taylor was the assistant director(Jaynee ended up having knee surgery and so she missed camp).  I felt so bad for her.  Becca Wilhite was our camp cook and she was so fun to work with too.  There were a lot of ladies that came and went and each were so fabulous!  I have never been on a stake camp committee before and it was such a different experience.  You would think it would be frantic but it's really not.  It's like a bee hive; Everyone does their job and fills in where they see a need.  It was pretty magical.  Once again I love YW camp!
