Our Day

Kade had his heart set on making Chocolate Chip Cookies today so we got their Lightning McQueen aprons on. (Thanks Gina for the cute Christmas present!) Well Kade wasn't wanting to make them as much as he wanted to eat them. He and Clint didn't help for long.

I think Kade likes summer about as much as I do. Ever since it snowed there hasn't been a day that he hasn't asked if the snow will melt so he can slip and slide. If it is a sunny day he looks out the window and with great excitement he informs me that, "It's going to be hot today!" Poor kid is disappointed everyday, so today when Kade was begging to go outside and play water guns I let them have a water fight in the bathtub after a quick hair cut. Both the boys played in the tub for about and hour and then I made them get out. They were so happy to play squirt guns and water fight.

Builders

Kade and his little friend Braxton were building a house today. While they were hammering, sawing, and cutting they would ask one another, "Is our house done yet?" Neither ever responded they just kept working. Kade had goggles on so Braxton said, "I need goggles to keep the sticks out of his eyes." Braxton had a hard-hat so Kade said, "I need a hat, like Bob [the builder]."

Backpack/Rescue Pack

As you may have already guessed, my boys are really into Dora and Diego. Depending on the day their little bags are their "Backpack" or "Rescue Pack." I'll have to video Kade singing the rescue pack song. You can tell he thinks he's pretty cool when he sings it. I had to turn on a movie so I could get this picture of them. When they have on their packs they run around saying some Spanish words I can't understand and, "To the rescue."

Laundry Fun

The boys love to help with laundry-- at least they like a few things about it. They love to throw things in the washer, put their toes on the center part while it's agitating, and pour in the soap (aka "blue"). Clint likes to put things in the washer so much that I can't let him be in there by himself. Once he snuck in and when I went to rotate the laundry I found my washer stuffed full with a great mix of colors, reds, and whites. Luckily the washer was done washing and I was just waiting for the dryer to finish so there wasn't any standing water in the washer, just damp clothes. These pictures show a portion of the fun they have when we do laundry. I remember tickling my toes and fingers with the washing machine when I was little too. It's funny how kids look at something and see the fun potential.

Sledding

After purchasing a new red sled we ventured over to our neighborhood park. I thought the boys would enjoy it but I really underestimated how much they would love it. We were there sledding for 2 hours, and we would have been there longer if the sun hadn't gone down. That may not seem like a long time for some people but for my 3 and 2 year-old boys who can't keep their attention focused on one activity for very long I was surprised. Here are a few pictures of our fun-- yes I did get in on the fun. The hill is so fast and some kids have built up some jumps along a few paths so I had to ride in the sled to control their path a little. Click on them to see their fun expressions. The bottom picture was Clint playing his favorite game on the park equipment; He knocks on the wall and then when you say who's there he peeks down through the crack and says, "Clint."

A Box!

We got a package today and before I knew it Clint had climbed into the box and was trying to close the lid. I helped him close the lid and he laughed and laughed. His laughing caused the box to shake and so Kade was giggling so hard.

They both thought it was so funny. Then Clint wanted to play hide and seek. "Count." He would demand. After I'd say 10 he'd pop out laughing.

I turned my attention to making dinner until he caught my attention again, "Mom! Here's soup!" He would stoop down in the box and 'make soup' then stand up and spread it all around. Before long Clint the box had become his slide. He pushed it next to the couch and would go for a little ride down the hill.

Oh Potty Training!

My sister just started a blog and you need to check out the post titled, "Finally!! 10 years!"
It is sure to make you never want to potty train a child again.
You can check it out here. Sorry Lis, I had to send everyone to read this. It is the funniest story I've ever heard. Porter kills me. I'm glad it was you and not me (knock on wood).

Primary YEA!

Kade is an official Sunbeam. He was SO excited to go to primary today. Darryl decided to sit through sharing time with him so he could be his conscious, and help teach him what was an appropriate way to act in primary. Most of the kids were pretty upset by the changes and the new environment but not our Kade. He wanted to be the helper every time and answer all the questions, right or wrong. After we picked him up from his class he just kept saying he had so much fun in primary and he loves his class. He also kept saying, "Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam," and, "I am a Sunbeam, but Clint is not, and Dad is not, and Mom is not, just Kade." I hope his enthusiasm stays until he's at least 18. : )

Happy New Year!

Well 2009 came rather uneventfully. It's not that Darryl and I don't enjoy playing games and staying up with friends we just don't ever do anything about organizing some fun, maybe because it's always so tricky doing the babysitter thing until after midnight. So this year we watched a movie and were in bed before midnight. I did hear the fireworks though so I guess I rung in the new year. LOL Darryl was snoring softly so he rang it in happily too. : )
I've got to document my resolution in hopes that is helps me to stick to it. I resolve to read scriptures everyday. Overall life improves when I read everyday. I have a more personal relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus. I react to things better because I see things with an eternal perspective. I gain understanding of the gospel. With all these 'pros' and only 1 pathetic 'con'(I can't find the time), you'd think it would be so easy to just do it. Wish me luck! : )

I had my own little party tonight though. The Utah Bowl game was GREAT! I'm not a Ute fan in anyway shape or form. I did cheer hard for them though for 2 reasons: I wanted to see them have a perfect record; I wanted all of the football 'gurus' to think a little before they overlook a team because they're part of the Mountain West Conference. What an awesome experience for them!
