Why Do Waitresses Say That?

We had heard a lot about the awesome trains at JC Mickelson's restaurant in Nephi so we had been wanting to stop and take the boys there for quite a while.  On our way to Aurora we had 3 hungry little boys so we took time to stop in for dinner.  The train displays didn't disappoint and neither did our boys.  The waitress extensively praised them for being so well behaved.  She mentioned all day they had kids that were just throwing fits and being horrible.  She was so delighted with how kind, patient, and friendly our boys were.  The first thing Kade said was, "That is like the third time this year!.  Why do waitresses always say that?"  They always say that because you guys really are awesome!  Way to have manners boys!!!  LOVE YOU!

Rendezvous!

Today was the 4th grade rendezvous! They were to dress up like a mountain man, bring some items to "sell" or trade at the trading posts, bring a tinfoil lunch, and make a possibles bag.  They sewed their bag a few nights ago at the after school event where they also got to listen to an animal trapper talk about the life of a mountain man.  These events are such a big deal to these kids.  I'm glad I was able to go help out with the lunch and watch a little bit of the trading post time.  Kade had pocket shakers that he sold.  They use their class currency so the money the had they had earned through various ways in class.

Cole Needs Glasses?????

Earlier last week I received a letter in the mail from the school district saying Cole needed to have an eye exam from an obstetrician.  It also stated that if we wanted to they would re-screen him just to make sure.  I called the district to set up an appointment to have him screened again figuring that during the initial screen he just didn't read the board right.  Well, I was shocked when the lady held up a device, that looked just like my camera, in front of Cole and it made some fun sounds and flashed colorful lights.  In about 15 seconds they lady said, "Yep, he failed it again."  What?  That is how they screen them now?  I had NO idea?  Wow!  It was amazing what they can do.  I felt so bad because I had no idea his vision was so bad.  He has never complained nor shown any kind of sign that he can't see anything well, like turning his head or anything.  We are so glad we had him in Preschool through the district so we caught it as early as we did.  I immediately scheduled the eye exam.  We went today and sure enough his left eye isn't working very hard.  We ordered glasses and hopefully his eyes will improve.  Once his glasses arrived I expected a fight to get him to keep them on but he faithfully wears them.  When I complimented him on being so good about wearing them he replied, "Well yea, I can see better with them." He's such a cutie!

Get Comfy!

After I put Cole down for his nap I give him some time to fall asleep and then go back to shut his door.  Today this is what I found when I returned.  He pulled all his blankets off his bed and made himself a bed on the floor.  He sure looked comfy! ;)  I mostly loved  his little arms behind his head.

Reflections Contest 2014

Clint entered a clay sculpture into the Reflections Contest again this year.  The theme was, "The world would be a better place if . . . "  Clint's thought was that if there were more hospitals where there aren't hospitals then fewer people would be dying.  His sculpture was a little hospital.  He won a $10 Wal-Mart gift card from the school level but didn't receive any other awards for the state level.  He was proud of what he did and loved entering the contest again this year.  Love your ambition!

He Did it!

We have another Wolf cub in the family!  Clint earned his Wolf badge in cub scouts and was awarded it tonight.  He is such a great little scouter.  He also completed a bunch of electives and earned a few arrow points as well.  I'm so glad he enjoys it but I love more that he's such a great worker!  Nice job CLINT!!!

I Can Draw A Bear (And Write My Name!!!)

Cole is learning so much in Preschool.  It is amazing the things he does in there!  Today he brought home this picture that he drew of a bear.  I was super excited and surprised to find out that he wrote his name all by himself too.  SO impressed buddy!

Sunsets

I would imagine there are beautiful sunsets everywhere but maybe not.  Lately every evening the sky has been remarkable.  I had to pull over and snap a picture of this one but realize that the picture isn't doing the real scene justice.  I still wanted to write about how beautiful the sunsets are so I could be reminded of what I was able to see.

Man's Best Friend

When we first got Kia he clearly seemed to have a slight fear of men but no reservations with the women.  Well it didn't take long before Darryl had won Kia over.  They both love each other.  Darryl loves to go out and run around with him in the yard.  It makes me feel like he's been deprived all these years. :(    I didn't have to try to win Kia over but he did need to win me over and I must admit he is getting close to doing just that.  He's a sweet dog and it is just fun to have a companion while you're doing work in the yard.  Today I was filling the chickens food tin and left the empty sack on the ground after I dumped out the chicken feed.  Apparently Kia loves chicken food.  He licked the bag clean and kept going until he was completely inside the bag.  Too funny.

Kade's Story

I went to Bridal Veil's Falls with my pack.  When I got to the top of Bridal Veil's Fall with my pack I was amazed.  When I saw the view it took my breath away.  I wanted to go higher but there weren't any trails for that.  I wish there were trails for that.  My friends and I tried to make our rock go all the way down the waterfall.  No one's rock went all the way down.  We all got soaked to the bone.  When we were chucking rocks we made some split in half.  It was awesome.  We chucked big rocks, some small rocks, all sorts of rocks, and even rectangle rocks.  It was the best time of my life.

The Magnet by Clint Bosshardt

The Magnet
Once there was a magnet.  His friend were Bob, Hob, Mob and Fob.  the funny thing is that they were nails so whenever they played the nails always stuck to him.  They had the best times together.  It was fun.  They played pinball, bowling, wii and as you know if a magnet gets close to a wii it brakes it and that's what happened the wii blew up.  They didn't have enough to afford a wii.  It was all most Christmas.  They wanted a scooter but they decided that they were going to wish for a wii.  When it was Christmas they got the scooter!  It was awesome.  They rode it every day.  Each day they learned new tricks every day.  They liked the bunny hop but their favorite was the clouda.  That meant 3 back-flips in a row.  They saw it on TV and they did it! It was so cool.  I can't believe it, 3 back-flips in a row!  They were so proud.  THE END
FYI:  Nob is the magnets name.

Wrtitings

They boys wrote some fun stories at school recently so I had to add them to the blog.  It blows my mind how much they have learned and are capable of.  They use to be helpless newborns-- how did this happen?  :o)

Still Laughing!

The class I teach at the college starts at 8 AM so the boys are often left to dress themselves after I head to work.  Sometimes they come home with interesting style combinations but I usually don't give it much thought since they are in elementary school.  Today when Kade walked through the door I began laughing-- so hard I was crying.  I tried to compose myself and as you can see if the first picture he clearly thinking I'm getting too much of a kick out of this.  He was saying, "What?  It was hanging up in my closet."  Somehow Cole's shirt ended up in Kade's closet and so Kade wore it to school.  I'm not really sure how he even got it over his head.  Just a 5 year difference in clothing sizes.  So funny.  He said he thought it seemed like it didn't fit him but he just went with it anyway. :)
